I've been studying at USSH for almost 6 months, at the faculty of Vietnamese studies. Since day one i knew USSH was a place where i would feel welcomed and accepted. It is a place of inclusion where diversity is not only respected but celebrated. I am studying Vietnamese language as a foreigner and evey single teacher i met have shown great professionalism and consideration for their students. The courses are very efficient, in only 5 months my vietnamese speaking skill have gone through the roof and i can now express myself easily in almost every situation i face while living in Vietnam. The teachers and staff are very encouraging and i will definitely finish the whole course to be fluent in Vietnamese and get the certificate!

After studying Vietnamese at The University of Social Sciences and Humanities for nearly 6 months, we believe that the classes offered here are of the highest quality. Not only do we learn a lot, but the classes are very affordable for the amount of hours spent in the classroom. Each one of the teachers is extremely friendly while remaining very professional. They genuinely care about us as people and as language learners. The curriculum is well thought-out and flows at a good pace. The content remains challenging but still reviews words and concepts frequently. We love that we have the opportunity to study pronunciation, grammar, speaking, listening, reading, and writing all within one class. Our Vietnamese friends are always impressed by the progress we have made in such a short time, thanks to the classes at USSH. 私の名前は小中悠一郎です。ベトナム国家大学ホーチミン市校人文社会科学大学のベトナム語センターでベトナム語を勉強しました。ここで勉強したおかげで、この大学の学士課程に合格しました。もうすぐ卒業予定で、この大学の学士号を得る予定です。

皆さんにお伝えしたいことは、私はこのベトナム語センターで多くのことを学んだ、ということです。ベトナム語に関する知識はもちろん、先生から授業の教え方や心構えなどを学びました。現在、私はベトナム人に日本語を教えており、このベトナム語センターで学んだ教え方を生かすことができています。

My experience with the Vietnamese language courses at the University of Social Studies and Humanities was very positive. The university's reputation in language education was evident, and the instruction quality was solid. The instructors were knowledgeable and provided a supportive learning environment. Small class sizes allowed for interaction and individual attention, and the diversity of participants added value to the experience. Returning for a second course after a year was certainly worthwhile. Overall, I would recommend these courses for those interested in a grounding in the Vietnamese language and culture when in HCMC.

I came HCMC for studying Vietnamese. It is a good decision to study here. The study program is good. They have many kinds of classes, open new classes continually. The office staff are nice and friendly. Vietnamese language is difficult but I have helpful teachers. All teachers are good and have applied various teaching methods. I always try my best to improve my Vietnamese and practice speaking with my classmates and my Vietnamese friends. I am happy and enjoy my studying.

USSH’s Vietnamese language course is highly suitable for learners with varied learning goals. Some students learn Vietnamese so that they can understand the culture and assimilate well in a place far from home, while others learn Vietnamese deepen their knowledge and mastery of the language. We have been extremely fortunate to have teachers who were not only experienced but also competent in their teaching pedagogy. They skillfully adapted lessons according to the students’ needs and language abilities. The teachers are also passionate in sharing their research interests (eg. Vietnam’s culture, other language influences on the Vietnamese language, pronunciations in the Vietnamese language) and that further piqued our interest in the Vietnamese language. I’m a French student and have been learning Vietnamese at USSH for 5 months. Starting from zero, I’ve now reached levels A1 and A2. I’m happy with my progress. The teachers are very helpful and patient, and the classes are well-organized with practical content. The small class sizes, 5 to 10 people, make learning more interactive. While my speaking is still quite basic, I plan to continue studying here until I reach level B2, so I can communicate more naturally with local people. Tôi tên là Ling Om, người Myanmar, học tiếng việt gần hai năm ở trường đại học khoa học xã hội và nhân văn. Trước khi đến Việt Nam, tôi chưa bao giờ học tiếng việt. Tôi bắt đầu học từ bảng chữ cái và phụ âm. Các giáo viên dạy bằng bốn kỹ năng: viết, nghe, nói và ngữ pháp. Thêm nữa, tôi thích và đánh giá cao sách giáo khoa và phương pháp giảng dạy. Việc học tiếng việt ở trường đại học này giúp tôi nâng cao khả năng giao tiếp tiếng việt, hiểu biết văn hóa và trở thành một người giao tiếp tự tin và hiệu quả hơn vì các giáo viên giỏi dạy cả cách phát âm của miền nam và miền Bắc với một cách kiên nhẫn.
